Hi all

I'm in need of some help.
I've replaced clutch master cylinder 4 times in 8 months. Now it's leaking again.
Also replaced slave. Clutch plate pressure plate and fly wheel.
So the entire system has been changed and now the floor mat has oil again !!!!!!
2000€ later and I don't know what to do.
The master cylinder is a Lucas trw

Help !!!!!!

no other obvious symptoms , could it have something to do with low range gears.
ive noticed when under biggish load in low gear a few days later it starts leaking again or it could just be me

ok so thats good news, but what could be causing this,
Also are there any heavy duty brands that i could use in next installation

just measured the distance from floor without mat to bottom of rubber on peddle and is 150mm.
Its supposed to be 140mm isn't it

The DOT rating relates to the boiling point, with DOT 4 being higher than DOT 3. That's critical when you're considering fluid that will be up against hot braking components, but won't matter in the case of your clutch I don't think! Sounds like you've just been very unlucky to me. Unless it's coming out somewhere else and not squeezing past the seal. Are there any other leaks? It's not something silly like an ill-fitting cap is it?

If you remove the cover off the clutch pedal box on a leaky unit, you should be able to see the fluid seeping out when someone moves the pedal.

The "normal" way that they leak is when the seals wear. The bores can also wear, but only after a lot of use. You can see this quite clearly when you dissasemble the cylinder. There also were seal kits available - not sure if they are for the td5 though. If just changing the seals cures the problem, then at least you know where the problem is.

As mentioned above, a leak at the union might also allow some fluid down to the pedal. This should be easy to spot - wipe with a dry tissue all around the clutch cylinder and union/pipe.
