No, for more than one reason, first is that it wont recognise the keyfobs, secondly it wont be synched to the engine ecu,so even if you know the eka code of the replacement BCU and mobilise, the engine still wont go.

IMO it's possible, make sure that the replacement BCU is newer than the existing one, then u need a proper tester(nanocom, T4, Autologic or Dec SS...hawkeye will not cover the key programming) ... procedure is here http://www.landroverclubvi.com/uploads/2/3/9/8/2398536/bcu_installation_procedure_8603nasf_2.pdf , the only difference is that u have to disregard the NAS/Canada related parts. I replaced one once with success using Dec SS tester... though it was new...but AFAIK for second hand is the same procedure ...maybe you'll need new keys though.

try to send yur unit to an ECU repair specialist(there are plenty in UK) ... i fixed mine some time ago when it had the circuit board interrupted within.

Good luck

Testbook will not reprogramme a used BCU,it cannot overwrite the VIN etc,nor will it upgrade fittings such as power seats. Also you would need the barcodes from the plips to make them work. Not sure about Autologic as mine was only delivered on friday and I've not had a chance to play with it yet.I'm fairly sure the Autologic will redo plips from the internal code rather than the double barcodes they are supplied new with.
I'd also want to be sure it wasnt an IDM/fusebox fault before condemning the BCU.
