Hi, a friend in Cape Town, South Africa had an exchange Gearbox fitted by the Land Rover Agent in Windhoek, Namibia while on a overland trip. Although he mentioned the difference in behavior between the old & new was informed this was normal. Has now returned to Cape Town and the agent also mentioned this is normal. He has passed his explanation on to me, I quote,
"Having had a Landrover disco 2, year 2000 TD5 exchange gearbox fitted by Landrover dealership.
Gearbox does not pick up when you initially select drive or reverse on first start up of the day. Requires revs and then clunks forward or back depending on gear selected. (Does not creep as autos usually do on this first start up). Engine lacks power. Brakes squeal a little and traction control, abs and downhill decent come on."
Is this normal or not, your comments would be appreciated
Thanks
Ray
