Hey, im new to this site so ul have to bear with me. Basically my TD5 qhich i got 18months ago has had no end of problems especially with the air suspension. Originally both sides were deflating so it went back to landrover where they plugged it into one of them computer things and ran a diagnostics on it and the cars ECU and wheel sensors etc were replaced and it seemed to be fine. However now...it is deflating itself again but ONLY the passenger side.. and when stationary ? But it will re inflate itself when i start the engine up. GRR !! however last weekend i was towing my horse trailer with 2 horses in and the B ***RD deflated on me again WHILST driving which it has never ever done before and it didnt reinflate itself, not even when id taken the weight of my horse trailor off the back...However later that day it sorted itself out. Its very frustrating and no one seems to know what it is. Anyone got any tips 4 me? thanks :)

Britpart are now doing replacement coil springs to do away with the air suspension as probably keep causing problems. Has it been anywhere near the sea as that deteriates couplings quickly. New springs only about £160. Hope that helps.

hi welcome to the troublesom world of landrover world (should have brought a jap motor) joking aside it sounds like your air bags on the back have sprung a leak and the compressor cant inflate them when loaded,we just had ours done the air springs are £93 each and our garage charged £40 aside, all works well now.if like you say you tow a heavy trailer dont convert to coils it wont tow as well as they ball about .good luck mark

We had exactly the same on our TD5.

Our one inflated correctly when we first started the car and was fine until you hit a bump in the road when the suspension would then collapse. We checked the height sensors and the air bags and both were OK. The best that we could think of was that there was a faulty electrical connection somewhere which lost its connection briefly when bumped causing the compressor exhaust valve to open and deflate everything.

If the springs deflate, one solution was too switch of the engine and wait for an hour or so. The system then seemed to re-set itself and became happy with life again (until the next bump !).

Our final solution was to rip out the air springs and fit coils. Not a very big job and not too expensive, however, here in Ghana we do not have the luxury of dealer back up or any real spares availability.

so, Browndog, did your local friendly Ghanaian manage to reprog. the SLABS unit as well? I'm interested as I have exactly the problem that LANDYLASS (who started this thread) had and I live in Spain and don't want to use a main dealer if I can help it!

fill spray bottle with soapy solution, and spray onto airbag whilst inflated, other than that get ecu reset by someone with nanocom, lot cheaper than dealer. i can help i am in glasgow

Hi David in Spain. We did not touch the SLABS. We just removed the air springs, removed the height sensors and that was it. That was a couple of years ago and so far no problems ... well, err, no problems with the suspension anyway ... we only now have the electrics to sort out, the appalling amount of rust, the ignition key falling apart, the gearbox and the occasional bit of over heating ... apart from that, no problems !!!
