Hello,
I have a Defender TD5 110 Black Edition from 2002. My AC fan inside the cabin decided to start burning a couple of years ago. Managed to put the fire out but the whole fan / AC box was of course destroyed, but after having removed that and all burnt cables etc. it is more or less like an ordinary non-AC Defender which is fine with me. But now I need to get to the Power Steering pump as it seems to draw air, and the best way would be to get rid of the whole AC compressor and all pipes, hoses etc. to clear some space. Is all I need in place of this a fan belt pulley (ERR6949) and a new belt of course (PQS101490)?
Thanks!

Not the bolded part cos that's already there on the Defender, that's for the D2's ACE(active cornering enhancement) not A/C... you need ERR6493 instead of the compressor, the belt is spot on

I where you I would remove the AC compressor to do the job you intend doing ....then I would re install the A/C that's if the clutch works .drill a hole on the compressor housing and tap in a greese nipple .
you can convert the AC pump into a air compressor ie for pumping up tyres
I did this to my old Nissan terrano .worked a treat for many years pumping up tyres was very fast when the RPM was slightly higher than idle

you can still remove all the aircon pipes the suction pipe T into the air intake .the pressure line just add a quick release nito air fitting .on a piece of hose
one shot of grease every now and then

Thats exactly what I did. Leave the compressor in place as it cost nowt and no messing about with pulleys and belts etc.
