i have recently had a little trip to parkwood with the disco owners club and put my 90 through it paces and everything was perfect....
i went to start it 5 days after later and it wouldn't start,

i noticed that the coil and engine management lights weren't lighting up, i checked all the fuses and they were all fine and figured this out to be the 2 relays under the drivers seat (they control the EM system, coil light, fuel pump etc), i put there failure down to water damage

so i replaced the 2 relays and now all the correct light on the dash are lighting up as they should.... but it still doesn't want to start, it tries to start every now and again and sometimes it will, maby once out of every 60 turns of the key and runs perfectly at that, but as soon as i turn it off it wont start again and now im stumped...

so
all fuse's are ok
all dash light come on as normal
turns over fine
no faultcodes in the ECU apart from one about the glow plugs but this clears when running
ECU seams ok on a visual inspection inside and out, there is no obvious water damage ect
fuel pump seams to be kicking in as normal when the ignition is on
when i got it running the other day it ran perfectly, i did a 30min trip to get the engine nice & hot, got back home turned it off and tried to start it again immediately and it wasn't having any of it...

so im thinking there must be a electrical problem somewhere or a problem geting the fuel to the cylinders.

any thought would be much appreciated...
thanks in advance
James

i dont have a immobiliser fob or alarm atm, just a key. i ruled out an immobiliser problem because it sometimes starts, i could be wrong though... i know they have a immobiliser feature programmed into the ECU that is not active in the base models (like mine) but i cant see that self activating itself

also worth checking is ablue connector under the seat neer the relays\ecu that connects several wires together u have to prise it open and give the contacts a good clean the pop it back together this made my td5 90 behave itselve

I HAVE FIXED IT :D:D:D:D

i pulled out the airfilter and it was abit clogged up so i changed that and it started to start every one in every 5 turns, and a slight lack of power when accelerating. so then i changed the air mass and now its perfect!!
cheers

have you checked your ecu wires for oil? A lot of td5's would go mental because of this in the falklands... trace wires from injectors (remove rocker cover) and check for oil (in the looms). It moves up by capillary action... You have probably checked so i won't go into painful detail but if you haven't reply and i'll explain...
