My Freelander 2004 Td4 lately had experienced lack of power with the engine light comes on after passing 2500 - 3000 rpm. I decided to clean the maf sensor with brake cleaner. When I had started the engine, it went high revs upon start up and I switched off the engine and took the key out of the barrel with the engine still running. It went dead after approx 15 seconds. Now it won t start. Is it the engine immobilizer that is preventing the engine to start?

I know very little about the Td4 engine. However, if a diesel engine is running with the key out then I'd guess you've either got an issue with the fuel shut off system (don't know how it works on the Td4) or it's running on it's own engine oil. eg via the turbo oil seals. A faulty fuel system might explain why it won't restart, doubt the turbo oil seals would. Perhaps posting in the Freelander section might get a more informed response.

Was it running on brake cleaner?
Yes. When I started the engine, it revved up and I switched the key off and out of the barrel. The revs went down and engine stopped about 10-15 sec. Tried to start it . Nothing......

maybe post your query in the hippo forum

i suspect the maf is now screwed ..
won't be the first time a maf cleaning has had the opposite effect to the one desired
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you could disconnect the maf n see if it runs any better ..
( that will cause the ecu to use its default maf map )
lack of power with the engine light comes on after passing 2500 - 3000 rpm.
often caused by a failing low-pressure-fuel pump / or blocked fuel filter
( the maf sensor has more effect below 2500 rpm )
be other reasons that can cause that power issue + engine warning light
( affaik the maf sensor does not cause the e.warning light to come on )
be some info about td4 issues in sig links at the end of this post
( the downloadable .pdf files )
go post in the freelander section ..
'n try a forum search .. be loads of tech info to hand
Computer saying no pressure in common rail, although its pressurized. Will change the Fuel flow sensor to see if the beast will start!!
Computer saying no pressure in common rail, although its pressurized
but .. how much pressure ????
i.e. if the ecu senses there's not enough pressure ..
it will limit rpm to save damaging the high-pressure-fuel-pump
or not start at all ..
post it in the freelander forum
i.e. if you want freelander owners to reply 'n help out
0 pressure although the common rail is pressurized.Swapped the fuel sensor, no luck.
