Initially when trying to start the car it would just click until it eventually started however, after a couple of weeks it wouldn't start at all (apart from a bump start).

I fitted a 'starter motor solenoid repair kit' and it started great for a fortnight until the clicking problem re-appeared and it again failed to start.

I then bought a second-hand starter motor and fitted the repair kit to it before putting it on the car. It started great for a week but now I'm back to square one as it's just clicking and won't start again!

The battery is fairly new and it continues to click even with a fully charged booster pack connected and I've checked all connections/contacts are good. I've tried giving the starter a whack and rocking the car in gear but still no joy.

I'm close to buying a brand new starter but am wondering if something else could be causing this fault such as a intermittent fault on the ignition switch??

Any advice much appreciated...thanks.

Have you checked the ignition switch?

Remove the cowling and it's located on the opposite end of the barrel to the key.

Mine was all furred up with oxidation.
A small peice of medium sandpaper/or small fine file will suffice.

Problem sorted...the ignition switch looked ok so in the end I just bit the bullet and fitted a brand new starter motor and a brand new battery.
