I have noticed my 2005 TD4 has started to run on for a few seconds after turning off. It has only done it since the weather turned colder earlier this week which could be coincidence. Any ideas as to the cause gratefully accepted.

Have you changed your crankcase filter?. If it is running on it must be getting another source of fuel eg: sump oil. if you havn't changed the crankcase filter it will be presurising the crankcase and forcing oil past your turbo seals.

Later on the day I posted the query I had set off on my way home from work but stopped at a shop after about a mile. When I came to set off again the FL wouldn't start (it would turn over but was making no sign of firing up just like camshaft sensor failure) and after several attempts I was just about to give up and call recovery when it fired. It was only just running with little power but I managed to set off again. As it warmed up it cleared and was back to normal running for the rest of the journey. Since then it has stopped immediately on turning the key with no running on. Very strange.

AllanI did you find out what was the matter? Mine is doing exactly the same thing.

Cheers

No , never done it again. I can't remember whether I had had changed the crankcase filter before or after this happening but it's worth doing if you haven't changed it recently. I also changed the fuel filter, under the RH rear wheel arch on mine, at some point as well. Sorry I can't be much help.

The engine management light had been coming on intermittantly but it had stored a fault code. Thank god i didn't have to pay for the new fuel pressure regulator.

hi guys, my td4 has started doing this now, went shopping and the landy was fine going to supermarket, came back to it, and it started and ran for about 6 seconds then cut out?!?! anyway, called RAC out and he said its the fuel pressure regualtor that is faulty. does anybody know how much a new fuel pressure regualtor is, or how to fix the problem without replacing said item.

any help is appreciated. stu..
