Hi has anyone replaced with drum casing with a better product that doesn't rust. Just bought a 2004 Freelander 1 and wanting to swop out the rust drum case with another new one - there' loads of choice raning from £22 to £170 genuine land rover part - im after one that doesnt rust in the next 3-5 years.

Has anyone sprayed their new drum case in caliper paint rather than leave it in the nickel colour?

Cheers
Tony

By drum casing, do you mean the drum?

Yes. I paint them with Bonda primer (it's the best), then a couple of coats of black stove enamel. This seems to keep them pretty rust free for a good number of years.

As above primer then paint with heat resistant paint, also add some copper slip to the centre painted or not in my case

On recommendation from @Nodge68 I got AllMakes drums for my '99 and they've been fine. They were part of a complete rebuild of the rear brakes and the results were perfect.

I failed to paint them though and they are rusty.

Thank you for the swift replies everyone, really appreciate it especially the photos. I hadnt thought of using stove paint but makes perfect sense.
