Hi folks, been a while. My trusty 02 TD4 auto been in for MOT today - straight through - just a number plate bulb needed!

During the service he spotted a small drop in coolant level over last yr - around a pint max. My mechanic said small leak from radiator but far from worth swapping out.

Do anyone know if it's OK to put rad weld into a TD4 auto coolant system? I recall it wasn't advised on my old MGF due to the pipes been very narrow.

Thanks

My Td4 radiator was leaking really slowly about 3 years ago, put a capful of radweld in and so far it's been fine. All I would say is use a small amount, this was recommended by a mechanic friend.

:)

whole bottle in my 200tdi and no problem what so ever. mind you she is bit of a tank, nothing seems to hurt her

thnx guys. I'm wondering if it worth just swapping it out for sake of £100 if I do it myself. Never done a radiator before - is it "easy" on the freelander?

So the yolk must be discarded.:D Does this actually work?

Say I was stuck in the middle of no where and my rad sprung a leak, could I ask the local farmer for an egg to help me on my way home.

Is it easy!!!!!

NO

Remove most of the front of your Freelander and depending if you've got Air con and an auto box, you will find up to four radiators. Yes count them FOUR.

Air con
Intercooler
Autobox oil cooler
Engine radiator

I have got a spare radiator for mine which I bought when it first started leeking a few years back. It's still gathering dust in the brother in laws garage cos I can't be arsed to put it in.

But if your feeling adventurous, go for it. It is pretty straight forward so long as your methodical about it and don't try and rush it.

Have fun and dont put any eggs in it!
:D
