Freelander 1 TD4 Pressure regulator valve repair

Hi guys,

I have to 2 questions.

I couldn't find a thread that explains how to repair the pressure regulator valve for TD4, using the repair kit.

So I managed to take the regulator out. I have the repair kit 2-O rings. green and white

I cant seem to be able to take the white O ring out of the regulator. It's very plastiky...not rubbery...

Question is how do I take it out and how do I put the new one in. The regulator filter at the tip of the regulator seem to be way bigger than the O ring diameter.

2 questions:
1. Any guides around on how to do it?
2. Any way to test the regulator functionality using a battery and a meter? I checked the regulator resistance and it's around 2.8 ohms.

I connected the regulator to 3.7V/ 7.2V and 10.4V batteries in this order. I could hear a click inside the regulator but can't see anything happening )

I wanted to see if the diaphragm of the regulator is ok and not leaking, but it seems I can't really see that.

The white ring is a nylon material. It does take some effort to remove it and just as much effort to refit it without damaging it. The green O ring is an easy replacement.

It actually is nearly impossible to fit without damage... The filter is in the way. Maybe take filter out?

The rubber O ring gets removed first and is refitted last. The plastic O ring can remain in place, if it's not damaged.
Check for foreign objects in the pump regulator hole, I've found plastic bag maternal in the hole on a couple of occasions.

The white plastic O-ring as a slant cut in it this opens up and allows you to remove and fit the O-ring, some sets come with a third O-ring large one , fit this also and you get a better pressure seal.

Also make sure the end is clean as this as very tiny holes a kind of filter make sure it is not clogged up with tiny black particles.

Does Anyone know how to test the regulator electrically?

With a DMM. The EDC monitors it anyway and flags a code if it's open circuit.

DMM means diagnostic tool?

This is how mine looks like. Worth replacing?

Also... does this valve have a diaphragm??? I heard it can leak from it in TD5s

DMM is a Digital Multi Meter. There should be a small resistance between the terminals.

The plastic O ring is fubar, so needs replacing and a new rubber one fitted.

Resistance is 2.8 ohm
