No, not my vehicle but whilst looking for a mate for a TD4, I have now found 2 with the above symptom. Really oily dirty coolant tanks.

I know the TD4 isn't a head gasket eater, but what are the most common causes of this. Oil cooler perhaps ?? Any other common failure points??

Hi Andy.
We have also seen a couple of the R40 diesel M47 engines with the oil in the header tank, caused by the oil cooler, the seals fail, best way round it is to obtain a spare a add new seals before fitting the cooler.

I had the same. Internal leak on the engine oil cooler. I believe the IRD cooler can be a possible culprit too
