Hello. Having issues with my td4 freelander 1. I bought it last week running lumpy on tickover and very smokey but an excellent starter and ran great with loads of power.Suspected a faulty injector. Took the injectors out and had them tested by a diesel specialist who confirmed one faulty injector. I replaced that one with a new unit and refitted the other three. The car now runs perfectly with even more power and no smoke. Only problem is it's now poor at starting. It seems to spin over forever before firing but once running it's perfect. This happens whether hot or cold. It tries to fire but struggles until it eventually bursts into life in a cloud of exhaust smoke. Any ideas would be grateful as yesterday this started perfectly. Now it runs perfectly but doesn't like starting. The injectors seem to be correctly seated as there is no gas escaping.

I had one faulty injector which I replaced with a refurbished unit. Mine did exactly the same as yours. Started perfectly straight after fitting and ran like a dream for a day. Then the hard starting returned so I went back to the diesel specialist I bought it from to ask for advice, he said I thought I'd see you again and basically explained that if the injectors were all of a similar age just replacing one will cause the next weakest injector to fail. I ended up replacing the other 3.
