well glad to have been some help i get help from here all the time so nice to do a little research and hopefully come up with the right answer for you

plus this messing about will help future members be able to upgrade this part and last them longer than a rubber bush
 
not long mate but i did run into a problem

when i went to tighten the small bush bolt the captive nut broke off so i had to wedge a small pry bar in there to stop it turning while i got a good nip on it

when i get some dry weather going to pop the bracket off and grind the plate away and fit a nylon nut other than finding the right tool and no messing was about half hour on side of road

give the nuts/ bolts a bit of spray the night before i didnt have to do this but is wasnt long ago i replaced my IRD but when i did that they were a bugger lol

You might find the the large bush has various shore (hardness) ratings. This would be tuned to differing vibration signatures given by the different engine types. Obviously if the large bush is being replaced that becomes irrelevant.
 
It only bloody fits!!! Half an hour and job done made a hell of a difference to the old truck just a bit of vibration when cold and ticking over but pleased with the result :)

That proves it then. A Rover 56mm bush fits all Freelander lower tie bars.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but was wondering how you found the orange polybush with regards to engine snatch and vibration in the cabin. I've recently replaced the lower tie bar with a new Land Rover genuine part on my 2001 Td4 auto and to be honest it hasn't made much difference with regards to the engine snatch when taking up drive. So thought I may replace the bush that is shot in the old tie bar to see if it make much difference?

Hello bud I don't get any snatching but do get vibration on tick over more than standard ive also got the rear diff poly bushed which tightened it up a bit more when taking up drive and changing gear I've got used to the vibration now!!
 
I upgraded to a Polybush after fitting a brand new genuine lower tie bar on my Freelander - the rubber just still seemed far to soft and you could feel the engine jumping about if you weren't extremely gentle on the drive take-up.

I bought the orange 56mm one that is listed on eBay previously in this thread, but the only thing I will say is the bush is too wide, so it does need modifying. The trouble is it fits too tightly in the mounting on the subframe where it gets bolted, and this in turn transfers more vibration through the side of the bush, instead of just the pin with the bolt through it.

Solution was to chop just under a cm off each side of the bush, so the support is only sent through the centre pin and nothing else. Had it fitted for a few weeks and got to say there's only a touch more vibration than the genuine tie bar, mainly when the engine is cold and otherwise I'm really happy with the result. :D
