Need help I'm losing coolant quick on my td4 it's leaking from the metal pipe on the IRD I don't have a prop shaft so want to bypass the cooling plate however I'm having trouble identifying them it's a 2004 but alot of the diagrams on Google don't quite match.

Just link the pipes out of the system. You can get plastic pipe joiners at B & Q for a few quid.
Make sure the IRD has full synthetic oil as it'll run hot without the cooler working.

There should be 2 hoses going to the cooler, I presume they are the ones needing to be joined.

They don't actually join at the cooler, there are metal pipes from the cooler that bend over the top of the IRD and the hoses join there.

Yes I can see rubber hoses at the top of the bonnet that are t'd off however one runs behind the engine and another returns to the front il post some pictures tommorow in the daylight.

if you want to join them and by pass the ird cooler it will have to be at the ird

I'm sure you can join them at the t pieces as per the diagram attached I do believe this differs slightly.

That's the KV6 cooling system diagram. All others are similar though.
You're best bet is to just remove both pipes from the IRD cooler and joint the ends with the previously mentioned hose connectors. ;)

Solved, it wasn't the IRD cooler leaking actually the pipe to it, I previously had a garage change the clutch and dual mass and noticed it was stiff going into gear after this was because I was smashing the rubber pipe from the IRD cooler this caused a hole and huge groove in the pipe.

Unfortunately being a bank holiday weekend I couldn't replace the hose so to have use of the vehicle as a temporary fix I removed the damaged hose and put the feed pipe to where the return went essentially bypassing the cooler.
