life aint borring when youv'e got a land rover...189 miles from home in the cold my trusty td4 popped a injector started missfiring then grey smoke that james bond would have been proud of then it died, pulled over and as it slowed down it re started and reved quite high...may have been the autobox transfering torqe...then spluttered and died...lots of smoke and fuel everywhere I was hoping it would light but it diddnt. anyway 4 hrs later aa turned up as we were a priority! shame they were looking for us on the m1 and we were on the m11...anyhow mr aa had a look and the iron clamp that holds the injector in had cracked long ago as it was rusty on the fracture and had only been held in place by the 2 8mm studs that finally gave up...Ive just ordered 2 8 mm studs 4 8mm nuts and the injector clamp £45+ vat ha ha ha not. has anyone else had this happen on the td4, did you or can you think of any other damage that my have been caused the injector is lifted out of the head by about 1 1/2 "" and only didnt go through the bonnet cause the injector pipe held it...never borring is it:eek:

I heard of, a long time ago, a sparkplug which came out of an old aircooled VW van. It went straight through the side of the car... Imagin you're just next to it.

Hi ming,

True, but that doesn't mean you have to close your eyes for the world around you? Besides, he asked whether it was known to other people this injector thing had happened before. Wanted to let him know that also sparkplugs can get blown out of the head, not very often, fortunately, so why could it not happen to an injector ? Hope this won't happen to me nor do I wish it to other people but as far as I can see letting him know this doesn't aggravate his case, it doesn't improve it either, but not worsening it either (just giving him some moral support by letting him know he is/was not the first one to be in a similar position.....??)
