Hi

I am about to buy my first freelander - a 2005 5 door td4 and just wondered if any current owners could give me an idea of fuel consumption?

How big is the fuel tank and how many £££'s worth of diesel does it hold and roughly how long does that last on mostly urban mileage?

Would be really grateful for any replies.

THANKS :D

Joll

Plenty of posts in here concerning this.
You should get around 35mpg around town. I think the tank is about 60 litres. As for how much ££££'s it will hold, you do the math ;)

Welcome to Landyzone by the way :D

Joll

Between 33-38mpg on mixed driving, light foot.

A full tank is around £60 which I have just got around 470 miles out of on mixed driving. My freelander only has a 1000 miles on so hoping this will improve.

Hope this is of help.

Welcome to the forum! Mine is an old L series Diesel Freelander and I get a regular 480ish miles per tank (Mine holds £42 at a push)

fookin blimey!!!! from red light to red light (fuel warning light not traffic lights!!) I get 400 miles give or take 10 miles - approx 4 months old with getting on for 8000miles on clock

It all depends on your right foot.

Thats the strange thing Jerry, in my case, it doesn't!!!!! For some bizarre reason i always get anything from 390 to 410 miles from a tank, whether driving like a nob, pootling along following Discoverys:D , or towing - always the same mileage. Ok its an auto which will have some effect but it does seem odd

I think the auto bit is the answer, as it always ( or should ) have the best gear selected for the conditions.

In my normal style I'm getting 350 miles to a tank (27ish mpg) when concentrating 440+ miles and over 35mpg.

Thanks for all the replies. I can't believe how much it differs, 240 - 470 miles is some gap! Oh please let me get a 470-480 mile per tank one!!!!!!!

dont forget joll - the 240 miles refers to a V6 Petrol ;-)

my 2001 td4 takes 51 or so pounds to fill up i drive from old harlow to london and back 5 times a week with the foot quite heavy to the ground and i still have about half a tank at the end of the week my td4 was giving me bad returns a first purchase i thought f--k it i should have kept the gas converted laguna but after putting some diesel injector cleaner in the petrol tank it runs like a dream i have been told by my machanic friend that you can put something in the engine to clean this as well i would not change my td4 for anything love it
