Afternoon all, I am after changing the fluid in my auto box as it seems to be taking longer to engage gears, especially 5th.

So I am wondering how easy of a job it is and what fluid is the best to use?

Nick

YUP Nick . . . use only lr's reccomended oil , check this out in search by ming. . . .td4 or auto box oil change . . .might help yer :) :) :)

Just been on the phone to local stealer and they have quoted me £6 per litre and they said I need just over 2 1/2ltrs.

They also said that there is a special way to do this change. They said that if it isnt done at the right temperature I could lose drive! Any ideas???

Proberly best to pay the money - at least for the oil even if you chose to do it yourself.Be warned there is a bolt on the bottom of the box that requires a strip down to refit.Do Not use the wrong oil.

LOAD er old tosh. . .sure best to do it at warmer temp, not rockit science [runs more freely] take it fer a drive [bout 10miles] make sure yer got correct stuff and 100% sure wot is drain un fill ,get a silicone end applicator end length er tube a funnel to fit ,get car level [use spirit level on sills by front doors] drain the ****e out ,make sure its all gone [get a new washer] refit drain plug ,pour in liquid gold exact measure, refit rubber refill plug, start engine and wiffout driving shift through all gears [purge] way yer go . . . .even dumb ole earthlings can manage it. . . .and dint be fobbed orft wiff got to put the test pooter onnit to make sure temp is exact [load er ole tosh] :) :) :)

Hard to say yes as i fit a Maffam at same time, More peace of mind than anything although past experiences with Toyota show any gear oil should be changed, Its as important as engine oil, if not more and can help fix problems

Yeah cheers shutty, I am just trying to make my way through jobs 1 by 1. Starting with the easier stuff and then working my way up or down! whichever comes 1st.

My mate works at the local garage and he has said that he will do my fluid change so I dont cock it up. he he
