Good Morning all, I hope everyone is good..

I was wondering if I could pick your brains for a minute..

I changed my ATF fluid yesterday, as I am going to be doing some towing, and it have not been done since I have had the car (car only has light use ~500 miles per year)

I followed the advice on here:

1) Started from cold and level (even checked with spirit level)
2) warmed up engine.
3) switched off engine.
4) unbolted drain plug and let out ~4 Lts
5) put drain plug back in
6) put in 2 Lts (Carlube XTU455 Automatic Transmission ), and cycled through gears (left each one for 5 seconds to be sure)
7) unbolted level bolt
8) put in another 1 Ltr
9) cycled through gears again
10) put in a final 1Ltr

I since doing this, I can hear a reasonably loud ticking or chattering noise coming from the left hand side of the cab.

This morning, I rechecked the level, again level, and engine running warm, and some more fluid came out. :/

took the car a run around the block but the ticking still exists, goes quieter on acceleration, and louder on deceleration.

Ticking get faster with speed.

Does any one have any ideas what to do? - It's my first time doing the ATF - What did I do wrong?

Thanks in advance :)

Might be something unconnected. Procedure looks ok, except you don't say you checked level with engine running, but you must have or it would all drain!!
Not something daft like engine underpan touching driveshaft or left something in there, tools etc ??
Lift front and spin wheels and listen ??

Sorry, yes you are correct, checked level with engine running, car level on the ground.

There is no engine underpan on my car, so can not be that.

No tools left in there, as I only used a socket for the drain, and the 14mm for the drain, both are accounted for.

The only other thing I have done is to change the engine oil, but don't think I can cock that up! ??? :)

Is it possible to get air locks in the autobox at all so it seems like it is starved of oil?

I will get the front in the air and spin the wheels like you suggest, and go from there.. Thanks for the help!
