My alternator packed in after doing the off road course at Driffield, fitted a new cheapo one and today got round to having a look at the duff one.
Genuine LR Valeo 150 amp, after several jet washes
Back cover removed
Two nuts and two bolts hold the brush housing/regulator in place. Four nuts, two bolts, and six wire clamps hold the rectifiers in, looks like they sit on heat sink compound
Bottom brush looks not too bad
Top one though is worn
It must have been putting hardly any pressure on the slip ring allowing crud to build up and break the circuit
A clean up with Scotch Brite pad, just need to get a new brush housing/regulator.
DIY repair looks to be easy, as spares are readily available.
