i have a 2003 td4, with the usual alarm system, sometimes when i unlock it i get in and alls well, other times and getting more frequent, the dash light flashes with a rapid beep until i insert the key n turn??
what is this? i have spoke to land rover who werent much help!

have you tried changing your fob battery as apparently a dash alarm beeps to let you know when the battery is getting low. Remember you'll probably have to resync the unit once you've renewed the battery. Can't quite remember the procedure - something like pressing the button five times in quick succession but your owners manual will tell you. Worth trying....

arrrr, thats might explain it lol
my mum has free use of my car and her own key (ouch!!)
and she says it never beeps at her, will pop into land rover n ask how i do it cos its a sealed unit fob??

Shouldn't be sealed, it clips together in two halves, just remember to take it off the keyring first. Any Motor Factors would be able to help you with it & would be cheaper than dealer.

definitely battery in the remote control, p155 easy to change, case splits in two top and bottom, battery is CR2032, available loads of places including halfords, boots, superdrug, tescos, petrol stations. battery should be no more than a couple of quid. if you change it quick enough, it won't require re-syncing. just take it apart and work out how you're going to do it before you take the battery out, unwrap the new one, then take the battery out and fit the new one.

really is dog easy.

buying a new fob would be a world of hurt as it would have to be coded by someone with T4 software, usually a dealer, and you don't need to.

Optimus is dead right on this, as he says 'dog easy'!
The batteries are virtually ten a penny on ebay. Incidentally the battery change is a 24k miles / 2 year service item and main dealers charge about £3 for one.
