Well it seems that the 1.8 Turbo drivers over at MGR get about 29 Mpg, not sure if the extra weight of the FL would affect that but it's not devastating - like the KV6 would be :eek:!

K Turbo much more straight forward, admittedly not as powerful but you should see the torque curve:D
 
Wouldn't putting a 52mm throttle body on increase/push the (power) higher up the rev range?
On my XJR1300 Yamaha the carb rubbers are restricted to increase the torque/midrange driveability,
The popular mod of fitting larger intakes gives better top end at a cost of driveability,OK if you rag it everywhere
Not ideal for a 1.8 freelander though:)

Depends on the manifold design, length and diameter of the branches as well as the throttle body so its a bit different to a bike setup, but I see where you're coming from! I imagine the throttle body is used to restrict power but the manifolds designed to work with a bigger one so you get power all the way thru? Perhaps:D
