Hi all, new to this forum. I have a 02 1.8 GS 3-Door (Head Gasket has been done) and my brother has a 54 plate Td4 HSE, I was just wondering what is the best way to tune these engines, my brother will probably get his chipped and mine already has a 52mm throttle body, but are there any other tuning methods that are relatively cheap. The tuning is pretty much just for better MPG and occasional fun.

I looked into having mine chipped a few months ago but the small benefit didn't justify the expense, so I fitted at 52mm throttle body and the car was transformed I now get 27 mpg without trying around Sheffield, it is also much better when towing the caravanbeing able to use the higher gears for much longer mpg went from 17 to 25mpg with the van attatched.

It's really made that much difference? May have to get on eBay:)

mine does that, around Sheffield, and it's standard.

i wonder what it'd do with bigger throttle body

What does yours do to the tank? I haven't bothered to figure mine out. But it ain't good:D
whilst on my hols (last week) including 180 miles m/way driving it returned 320 miles to a full tank ( 31 mpg).
but usually it gives me 250/260 miles to the tank, this equates to around 27 mpg

not great but it does it wi style :D

I did about 220 mostly on the motorway going to Eastnor and back the light came on 10 miles from home it was brimmed after the first 10 miles. Also did the off road course! Wasn't hanging around either so considering my tyres and lift its to be expected

I get between 27 - 31 mpg too depending on how much tiwn driving I do on a tank.
