Hola, Freelander people. I have just bought a 1998 Freelander, 1.8 petrol but the the ABS and the TC lights are on all the time. Can anyone tell me where to start in fixing these problems ? Thank you.

It could be related to the Hill Decent Control Switch on the gear lever.. look to see if the wires have broken off the plug or the plug has come un-done, you can do this by pulling the gaiter down.
I did have a petrol that had this same problem... but the dishonest seller didnt tell me that the IRD was empty and the props and viscous coupling were removed totally making it 2WD, so you may want to look underneath and check its all there before you go any further! I hope this isnt the case for you though!

But, as 'The Mad Hat Man' said i went and got meself a diesel! Best thing to do! :D

Cheers, Christian.

I'm currently helping a friend with his freelander problems, so far, we have done the brake switch, fixed the hd switch, replaced two wheel sensors that were faulty, but the tc and abs light is still on, it has however been converted to two wheel drive by having the props removed, could this be the problem?

Taking the prop off shouldn't make the lights come on. I ran mine without the propo for ages and it didn't make a difference to the lights.
