You are in denial.
Why else would you be lingering on a Land Rover forum if Jap is so great.

Tell me more about rear axle drive flange wear.

The people I got my 110 from told me that they are always fitting new half
shafts to the 110's they sell as they wear quite quickly. They fitted new
shafts to mine before selling it too.

Last week I was pulling away from a junction and there was a loud bang and
sudden lack of go, accompanied by a horrible noise. It sounded very
expensive and I had to engage diff lock to get moving again. When I
investigated I found out that the splines on the RHS drive flange were non
existant. I fitted a new flange and half shaft.

Cheap and easy to fix but I didn't know it was a known problem.

The drive flange "problem" is caused by a (large?) batch
of drive flanges being supplied with incorrect heat
treatment applied. This has been resolved for some time.
If you are worried about it, replace them now!

I hadn't heard this explanation - I thought it was because new hub seal
arrangements kept oil off the splines. (perhaps exacerbated by the heat
treatment problem, or vice versa)

I was in denial when i bought the thing... "Oh it'll be alright..."
It wasn't.

Thursday night the alarm system decided to lock me out for 1 1/2 hours in
the cold... I swear it read my post & wanted revenge

They do that.

Now, I wonder where could I find some of those? :)

It did take just short of 160,000 miles for it to go wrong though! Maybe it
was just down to wear and tear on mine.

Hopefully the new one I fitted along with the new halfshaft will be alright.
I also got a halfshaft and flange for the other side as they're so cheap to
buy.
