Hi.
Although the place where I bought the freelander says they will fix the following issue...it would be helpful if they knew the cause as they are certainly not experts.

The issue is this

The window will go up and down perfectly but when trying to open the door the glass does not drop down the short amount it is supposed to...although it tries to and the door does unlock. You can then push it down by hand if you can grip the window with your palms. It does seem to be slightly aligned too far to the left.

The window cable has probably stretched. This give rise to slack in the drive and the problem you are having. Sometimes it's the motor too, but the cable is the first thing to replace. Also the glass runners need to be lubricated with silicone grease. If the runners are stiff, the cables stretch quickly.

To calibrate it do I just disconnect battery and then reconnect it... And does that effect the radio.... I'm kinda new to most mechanical work but looking forward to fixing a few bits.... Lol. Yesterday managed to fix my trailer lights.

You will need the radio code ;).
Disconnect the battery for 10 seconds, then reconnect.
The rear window will wind all the way down on reconnection. Switch the ignition on and drive the rear window to the fully up position, using the internal switch. There will be a series of beeps to tell you calibration is complete. The calibration procedure is in the owner's handbook.
Then test the rear window does as it's supposed to, when the door release is operated.
