tailgate repair

mines split at the bottom after investigating the rust down there,is there a a way to repair it.

What did you use to investigate the rust?

A fookin JCB?

For the repair, I can recommend a 3/1 mix of my mother inlaws mashed spuds & broccoli. I used this with great success repairing a cracked block six years ago. If you replace the broccoli for crush and run its good for paving too.

Failing that, can you lay your hands on Dennis Neilsons bath matt? It may whiff a little but it has excellent waterproofing & pest control properties. HEVAC, will no longer present any issues for you as you'll be the only fooker in the car!

Get a good one from Egay-hopefully it will be the same colour-if not get it resprayed. Wasting your time trying to patch it.

shame your so far away, i,ve got a as new one for £100 but i'm in sussex and don't fancy posting it cos of the glass

Get one of the kits & re-use your glass. Mine's a Classic & I got the Famous Four ally kit so no more rust.
If you do go the ally route, press on the lower corners to close to avoid it starting to bow in the middle.

i might not of give the right info its the lower part,top parts ok.

Ahhhh the bottom tailgate! Its the bottom rail that goes on the top one so that's why I thought it was the top one. Nothing like jumping to conclusions.:doh:

In which case ebay or one of the specialist breakers for a good one unless you can weld.
