hi all

ive just acquired a tailgate interior panel, the one with the speaker attached.
my existing panel has nothing on it just a plain panel.

my question is, will the wiring already be there for the speaker or will i need to fashion something to get it working??

my disco is a 1996 p 300tdi

thanks in advance

Tony

Don't know but u will soon find out when u remove the old panel and unless you have the correct head unit the bass speaker won't work.

thanks discool

what head unit do i need? ive got a sony cdx?

cheers

tony

If that has a pre-amplified output (pre-out) for a sub amp which you will have if your new panel is complete you'll be ok, the power supply for that amp is the same as the head unit, 'ignition switch supply and a permanent supply', so just connect to that.

If you don't have wiring in the door then you will haveto run wire for both supplies the earth can be picked locally at the rear light area also u need a pair for the audio signal.

That's about it. Simples

so no wiring in the tailgate, looks like ill have to wire it in myself?
im new to this, any advice on how to do it would be really helpful.

cheers

tony

From the head unit take your wires behind the fuse box and down behind the drivers kick panel (the hard bit) is getting the wires out/into of the headunits aperture on the right side to the fusebox area (try using a long flexable cable tie alongside the existing thick main wiring loom seen from up and on the LH side the fuse box), then remove the o/s door tread plates and follow the existing cable and under the carpet into the boot area and to the rear o/s light housing from under the plastic panel.. then just pop the wires through the connecting hose with the other wires into the void of the back door again with the aid of the cable tie. Job Done:)

Or just don't bother. I've just removed the rear panel and fitted a Chequer plate one (cough Cough) and there is no difference in the sound coming out of the speakers at all.
