Hi, Has anyone sent their Synergy2 back for the "+" firmware update, if so can you share your thoughts, i have Synergy2 and the dash switch (which i never got round to fitting) but have seen this update and wondered if anyone had it and what their experience is, i think that for the sake of 15 quid it must be worth it? Thoughts/abuse please?

Yes, I have done this, and it's brilliant. Much more convenient.

I had the dash switch all rigged up and connected to a Synergy2a and was very happy with it performance wise. I was on setting number 8.

Only drawback was having to stop the engine to change from the power mode to the lowest setting for economy mode. That was a change from 8 to 6. So for all intents and puposes I had to decide what setting I wanted for the entire journey. :(

The switch remains the same - only the box itself needs to be returned to Ron, and its a fast turn around - return post it must have been. Came back marked Synergy 2a+

Now all I have to do is lift off the accelerator pedal, flick the switch, and then back on the pedal again. :D

I use the new, improved 'eco' setting on motorways and dual-carriageways, and change to 'power' mode for the fun twisty bits. :D Still set on number 8, never have to touch the box itself of course.

Well worth the money, IMHO.

Hope this helps you decide, but for me it's a 'no-brainer' - I wouldn't be without it.

That's an easy one - looking from the front - below the servo and slightly to the right, approx in line with the oil-filler cap - there is a rubber bung on the bulkhead.

Poke a screw-driver through there and it comes out under the carpet, above the pedals. The jack-plug goes in under the carpet through to the engine bay leaving enough cable with the switch in just the right place to be fed up past the heater wiring and the switch gets stuck on the RH side of the centre console.

The switch cable gets tied on with the same cable-ties as the corrugated cable trunking from the Synergy unit to the MAF sensor.

No probs at all.

excellent thanks, just need some time now to get it taken off and remember how flat it was before i had it....

PS what are Bell "Huey" cabin lights?

Hi,

I forgot to mention another benefit of the dash switch. The centre position is 'Off' so I set it to off with no little red or green light when it goes for MOT or if someone else drives it.

You're reading the small print, eh.

Bell 'Huey' Helicopters have red interior lighting. for use by navigators at night. Remember M.A.S.H. ?

I have hi power red LEDs fitted in the interior lights - great for long overnight journeys. Interior lights were very poor. Red doesn't bother the driver so much as white. See the dash in any BMW - all red.

Singvogel where do you position your switch, is it on view or hidden?

I had it hidden to begin with, but after getting the upgraded Synergy2a+ I use it most days.

So now it is on the RH side of the centre console stuck on just a little bit down from the headlight level control. Not at all obvious really. But I can glance down and flick the switch without having to search. Easy to see the red and green too.

I was wary of the self adhesive pad idea, but it hasn't fallen off yet after 3 months.

Does Ron charge for the firmware upgrade? I think he converts the Synergy 2 to the one with a remote switch as well - might get mine done.

Feel free - I am on my phone so not so easy but will get to my pc tomorrow - if you do it let me know outcome - cheers
Ok I've mailed him about it and will post back when he replies. Looking at the site it will be £15 for the '+' update and £20 for the dash switch. This update means you can change the setting whilst driving whereas before you had to turn the engine off, flick the switch to change the setting then restart the car. Sounds good to me :D :D :D

Aha!!!

But if you're a bit cheeky like me you will have asked him for a forum discount ;)

its not much but if you pay him by payapl and mention landyzone he will do it for £40.

Just waiting for some more details off him and I will start a new thread with all the details on for anyone who wants to upgrade :D

ok time for me to get one of these boxes looked on his site and i am lost to what i need i have a 02 td4 comercial with 106,000 miles any help please many thanks dawn

ok then, how is your maf? if its ok then jusu go for the synergy 2. if you want to change the settings whilst driving, order it with the dash switch, if you're happy to set it and forget it, leave the switch.

before you buy one are you 100% happy that your fuel system is in good shape? if you've got any issues with injectors the synergy will only show these up even more and may make your freebie run worse rather than better.....
