Swivel pour out!

Passanger side front wheel has a bit of play. Then noticed a dribble staining from the hub while parked up. Diff oil was high, so figured it was time to do seals and bearings.

undid the two bolts holding the break pipe clip above the swivel. As soon as I did, loads of fluid poured out the swivel! Not seen this before? What’s caused it? Swivel ball is good condition. Rebuild time or it a simple issue?

when you undo the top bolts the housing can drop a bit meaning seal isnt tight letting oil out ,if you undo those bolts its best with a jack or other support holding swivel housing up first

Ah ok, thanks. Can I just retighten and put one shot oil in, or am I best rebuilding?

jack it up carefully watching the lip then refit bolts when your ready then oneshot or oil

I just thought, if my axle oil is high and turning a bit milky, the ingress of water must be coming from the swivels rather than the hub bearings? So I gather this would require swivel rebuild? or just new seals?

may just be condensation unless you go wading,in which case the all seals arent fully water proof, theres a seal in the chrome ball that separates or is supposed too axle and swivel
