Hi,

Can anyone think of an easy way to get to the 12v feed to the hazard lights from under the bonnet?

I've got my FBH wired up to a remote, I'd like an obvious way of showing that it was turned on. Was thinking about supplying a feed to the hazard lights with the FBH remote switch. Running a wire to behind the centre console sounds difficult, can anyone think of a way of getting to the hazard light feed from the engine bay?

Thanks.

Do you want your hazard lights to flash all the time the fbh is on when the engine it oft?

That's what I was thinking. Battery will go flat sooner and it's annoying having the hazards on.

Maybe. I figured the drain on the battery by the hazards was pretty low? The remote switch provides 12v, so was just going to feed this to the hazards.

That is completely......
....actually, I will be polite and just say that it is not a very good idea.

Why so? Battery drain? I think the battery can run the FBH and hazards for a bit longer than while my car is warming up....?

Nothing to do with battery drain - I have my FBH on a remote and use it a lot. In my garden, I wouldn't mind the hazards flashing, although the neighbours might think it strange. However I wouldn't want them flashing away in public carparks, at clients houses, outside the pub on the roadside etc.

Also, if you wire them up anyway, be sure that they are triggered by the REMOTE system alone and so don't come on just when the FBH starts automatically when you start the car, and also that putting the hazards on doesn't trigger the FBH to start.

As for knowing it is on, I find the cloud of condensation, the roaring noise and passers by pointing and wandering WTF is going on suffices.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll just leave it, just don't want to come back to the car and find it's got a flat battery because I accidentally turned the FBH on and left it all night....

Put it on a timer.
Mine is. I used a kit from Maplins for the remote system - the kit is a 2 channel thing that when activated runs for a set time then switches off. 1, 5, 10 or 20 minutes iirc.
When I press the button it fires up the FBH and the internal heater fan, and both will run for 10 minutes then switch off, which is plenty to defrost the windows and warm the cabin.
Just need to remember to leave the heater controls set to hot and window defrost positions when I park up, but TBH in winter they rarely stray from those settings anyway.

Ah, that's much better than the one I've got, which is just a remote control toggle. They're out of stock, but I've requested an alert when it's back in.

How easy was powering up the interior fan?
