Hi
My disco 2 has decided to jack the rear right hand up to max and will now not go up or down. When i push the button either on the dash or the remote the chime noise goes off and the light flashes and nothing happens!

Anybody have any ideas of what it might be?

Thanks A lot

Colin

I would also say ride height sensors.
change asap as one of mine failed and wasn't inflating when it should making one side do all the work and it went bang. luckily I was stationary at lights.
about £30 a side from a main dealer and 10 mins a side to fit yourself. Probably get them cheaper online but I needed mine same day .

Yes very simple,

Disconnect the battery first tho, then 3 bolts + plug and its done.

if you wish to lower the vehicle (for now) pull the compressor relay / fuse and then slowly undo the pipe at the compressor end to release the air SLOWLY to allow that side to "drop" till the vehicle is level again, re tighten pipe (do not OVERTIGHTEN) and leave the fuse etc out until you get new height sensors installed (may get dash warnings)

will the height not reset on it's own as it is up on one corner still.

It should, when the new ride height sensors are installed but it is important to disconnect the battery neg lead, BEFORE starting to remove the old sensors.

Once the new ones are installed and connected, reconnect the battery and it should sort itself out.

I made the mistake of not disconnecting the battery. I 'pumped' it up to full height using the ride height button. switched off engine and disconnected the plug to the sensor .
the car then slowly lowered to its bump stops:eek:
I managed to fit the sensors while it was lowered but it was more awkward.
once fitted the car was started and it never moved:confused: I pushed the button to 'lower' it and then pushed it again to raise it and thankfully the car raised to its full height with both sides level. it then lowered normally to its normal height:D
it has been fine since

Does anybody know if it usual for the compressor not to run in these kinds of situations. Only I am trying to diagnose this problem without having the car in front of me as it is in the USA with my wife.
She has apparently tried to both lower and raise the car to see if it would correct itself and the light on the dashboard flashed the and she heard the audible tones when trying to go up (although nothing happened) and then when she tried to lower it with the trailer hitch remote nothing happened at all and now I’m wondering if the problem is more serious (I like to worry about my Rover you know)!!
Should I just replace the faulty sensor and then see what happens??
