suspension mot fail

Hi, my 2004 disco 2 td5 has just failed its mot on nearside front suspension arm ball joint, can any body please tell me what this is because all I see is bushes on front suspension arm and no ball joints.

Where you see F off big ball joint boots, you have F off big ball joints.
and the very best of British luck in getting them out and new ones back in.
Hell, fire and brimstone are all permitted!!!!!
Look above and below the place where the wheel swivels.

Not too difficult with the right tools.

But that's part of the steering knuckle assembly not a suspension arm as it states on the fail certificate.

Well take it back to them and get them to point at it with a stick then you'll know.
But I bet we are right.

I bet you're right aswell, I'm going to break out the fire and remove them, but shouldn't they be a little more specific when labeling safety aspects of the vehicle? Reading back on my previous reply it wasn't worded properly, I wasn't trying to say you were wrong, more that they should be more clear. But honestly thank you for the info and knowledge.

I think it is the fault of the MOT documentation, one-size-fits-all type thing. Technically I suppose you could say that anything that connects the wheels to the chassis (or body of a monocoque) is "suspension" although steering is not exactly the same. You can take some steering stuff off and the car still stays there "suspended" by its suspension.
These swivel ball joints turn, so they are part of the steering but they also hold the hub to the rest of the car and move up and down with springs and shockers, so they are part of suspension too.
You could take the AR bar off and the car would drive OK-ish. So is that part of the suspension? Most people would say it is.
Notice how in this link, they are called both steering AND suspension ball joints, depending on which advert/article you look at!
