one thing ive noticed since accy banned that bucket mouth for bad langauge it has deffinateley improved ok mate im takin the dogs catch ya later ;)

An interesting observation Chris! - Not sure how a guy that posted a max of 40 posts could have ruined a good web site in such a short time - but I am glad that you are now a happy bunny.
Arent friends of the earth and greenpeace allowed to have a say in the way their planet is run - or only people of a similar persuasion as to yourself allowed to voice their opinions? You slag off other people if they disagree with your point of view and then want Accy to stop them replying or ban them from the forum.
This forum should be open to all to voice their opinions, whether you agree or not. Offensive!? language, used purely for the sake of it, contributes nothing and Accy is perfectly right to ban peeps for using it unnecessarily. Accy - you must have got the balance about right - coz nobody is happy :D ;) :p

Accy, I think you're missing the point here.

In summary: Donk starts a thread about a half days 'greenlaning' with some pictures which annoy/infuriate people as they patently show Dork et al doing exactly what the majority of us avoid doing i.e: contributing towards the churning up of a byway to the point where it's likely to be closed to traffic for a very long time.
A few people quite rightly comment on this, in an actually quite amiable way and Donk seeks to try to defend an indefencible position with aggression, veiled threats and abuse (and a load of old twaddle about writing to the Council, actually preserving the countryside & being waved at by happy little ramblers, oh c'mon!)

Codbasher then posts some more pictures further confirming how irresponsible their little half day out was and further demonsrating how attempting to drive through terrain like that should be kept to pay & play days & in quarries & the like where no-one actually cares what damage you do.
Because his misguided approach attracts opposing views he goes crying to the mods again asking for the thread to be closed. Why ffs?

If you can't have lively debate about a relevant and very emotive issue on a forum devoted exclusively to that subject then er, what's the point?
When on a forum created to discuss a common hobby you see such a flagrant disregard for the code which is there to actually preserve that particular aspect of our hobby (greenlaning) of course people will get a bit fired up.

What is more disturbing is the apparent narrow mindedness that refuses to allow a bunch of, at best misguided idiots, at worst, arrogant, self serving pillocks to see that churning up the countryside to such an extent in the pursuit of 'fun' merely plays into the hands of the vast array of people out there trying to kil our hobby. There's plenty looking for further fuel to add to their arguments as to why vehicular rights to the places we enjoy should be recinded & I would'nt put it past them to trawl sites like this looking for posts & pictures to assist them.

Top job, well done, give yourself a big pat on the back courtesy of the ramblers.

For the GLASS members amongst us & those who feel they approach greenlaning in a responsible manner (you can always turn around, amazingly LRs do go backwards as well as forwards!) it's gutting to see all the bridge building and attitude changing we try to initiate being trashed so completely by people who are supposed to be involved in the same hobby, but fail so completely to see how utterly wrong they actually are.

Right, that's my two pennorth, now Dork, PLEASE add me to your ignorance list. I find it unlikely that our views will ever be anything other than poles apart. If I had your address I'd send you a pair of long red woolly socks in recognition of services rendered, above and beyond the call of duty to the Ramblers Society of Great Britain. You've just saved them loads of work & I'm sure will continue to advance their prohibitive cause in ways they could only dream of and thank you for.

MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm:rolleyes:

I think thats the wisest thing yu have said, so far, Donk
nah if he feels like me im just ****ed of with the crap replys ive said before it started as a good thread...but hey ho,donk next time you go please do some blackberry picking and feed the birds...then post the pics i CARNT WAIT BUT DO GET TO MANY ACTION SHOTS ok im saying nowt else on this thread hope you all have an exciting new years eve !
and have a good 2007

Well well.. just what i was expecting to see when i logged on..

Marcus, just where do you think i'm missing the point??? when have i commented on the subject in matter?? read the thread carefully again and see why you think i'm comparing this thread to my school days?? it's gone past the point where i can have an oppinion on the forum i just read and take it in. What i do disagree with is the ammount of running to teacher!! i'm no kind of authority figure i'm just here to keep the site running and attempt to keep people happy(which is impossible i might add) somebody is always going to disagree. Ive lost count of the ammount of times i read my name with respect to something being removed because someone disagrees with a word or comment!! i banned someone a couple of days ago for a totaly uncalled for use of language.. if i see bad language in the middle of a post because someone is voicing their feelings (and thats the way they do it best) then fair enough.. when someone just makes a post full of language just to be an annoying prick then its gonna gat deleted or their gonna get banned.. simple as! I did get a message from donk last night asking me to close the thread but i didn't.. A forum is a place where you voice your oppinion, if you don't like the comments back then ignore or don't come back... thats what the rest of the world do on other forums.
It does wind me up alittle when i see blatent wind up's but hey it's a forum.. personally i think that changing peoples user names to make them sound stupid is just a tad childish... having a good debate though isn't, IMHO this thread had some VERY valid points but personaly i lost interest when the name calling started, Not saying it's wrong it's just my oppinion.
Now i do expect some kind of slagging for this but hey thats what i love about these places.... Keep e'm coming!!

Accy, my missing the point reference was more targetted at your assumption that we all have a common interest, I doubt that. Donk's post is akin to going onto a Kennel club site to drum up interest in dog fighting, the poster & rest of the forum may have a common interest in dogs, but little common ground.

Yes, changing names is childish, so? It's been done on here since before I joined & will continue to do so, also to most on here is amusing and good natured. Everyone of note here has taken and given stick in equal measure & not taken it to heart & certainly not gone running to teach' (a growing attitude I agree with your views on).

Had you closed the thread on that basis there would have been zero point to the forum & it would no longer have held my interest & I suspect many others. It's already much quieter, less fun & lively in here since this most recent bout of bleating. You only have to look at the diminishing list of members signed in to see that.

I hope it passes, the whingers bugger off to anywhere left that'll have them & the forum can get back to being the (informative & useful) laugh it was before.

Not a slagging Accy(whingey!?!), just my honest thoughts on the subject.

i think i mite be one of the worst offenders at changing peeps names, but I have taken the **** take, too! - Whole threads aimed at me - its par for course - if yu give it, yu gotta take it. Thats one of the reasons this is a good forum, Accy. Let the childishness go - do yu good job at regulating the extremes. Long let it be so.
Have a good one, Accy

and yu chris, codbasher, grunt, marcus and anyone else reading this.

One last bit I am going to add......

The 'area' that we had the mud bath in, was on farmers land, right at the edge of some woodland, as we drove through the woodland there were areas that had been used by I would guess heavily modded off roaders, some of these areas looked like they had been marked as a course, the area on the far side of the bath, going back to the lane was unaccesable to any of us, no one had a vehicle that could even have attempted it... My thoughts were that the farmer must have had some sort of pay and play in those woods.... In fact I want to go back and get some pictures, so you all can see what I mean...

The whole trip was 90% hard tracks, and only a very small percentage of our route was what you could even remotely call wet, damp yes.

My apologies that this thread has gone from my first ever greenlaning trip that I enjoyed, to a slagging off, moaning dirsh, I have gone from a high feeling at having enjoyed it and the company, to almost wishing I had never gone....

But I will go again, with Donk, Jesus etc, just wont post any reports or piccys.........

ACCY!!!!!

Griffs calling me names!!

Its Codbasher not Coddy.......

The above comments are light hearted, and in no way should cause offence to the above person/s or any one else who cares to misread the posting.....................................I thank you.
