Sunroof sunshade issue

I have a 2011 L322. When I retract the sunroof, the sunshade goes back with it. The sunshade retracts into the roof but when I close the sunroof the sunshade is still retracted inside the roof and I can only just reach it with my fingertips to pull it back out. I know this isn't right! The question is what is wrong please? Can anyone help please? Thanks

Use your hand to stop it going so far back? Then allow it to pick up from that point on the way forward.Maybe it'll eventually do it itself, or maybe you'll have to accept it's going to do it and just stop it before it disappears.
Personally,since mine stopped picking up the shade, I just do it manually, it's no great hassle.

First world problems mate

I can only talk about the 2002-2005 models but the sunroof retracts and takes the shade with it, on return the glass slides forward and raises back up to seal it pulls the shade an inch forward from the fully retracted position, you then have to manually close the shade yourself the rest of the way.

As for the later models, I can only assume it is the same....if not than yours is not working correctly, and removing the sunroof is not for the faint of heart!

Mine used to do that, but at some point it decided it was too much effort and stopped. I tried getting it to pick up by adjusting the blind position several times, and seeing if the glass would pick it up again, but no joy. My solution was to move the shade manually. It's not an issue that was high enough priority to bother with and lifting my arm to move the shade may be awkward but it's a 2 second action.
