When i close my sunroof it clicks and stops closing, so i have to give it a push to help it close fully. Sounds like a clicking sprocket, could this be the case? if so do i need to replace the stupidly over priced motor or is there another way? Your help would be most appreciated! Thanks.:mad2::mad:

Its a fault with a plastic fitting in the rails. There is a way to repair it, do a search on here. Other than that you need to fit a new rail and normally it is better to do both sides at once. Down side is price £80 per side and a good couple of hours. Best advice it to leave sun roof shut and do with out it.

I have the same problem with the sunroof stuck up in the tilt position. If anybody knows a way of closing it, help would be appreciated. I notice a slot in the sunroof motor/gearbox, can this be turned manually. I aim for the shut it and forget approach, once closed take the fuse out, just need help in closing.

Also if anybody knows the best manual for a freelander can you point me in the right direction, I know Haynes not always the best.

mine has the same problem just pressed close while pushing it forward till it closed .will get round to fixing it when the weather gets warmer.

IF such a key exists one should be able to tell where ? I have spent some time in trying to fix my sunroof too (which wouldn't close anymore as one side seemed to be out of service) which went always across when I tried to close it, the tilting part still worked fine. So I ended up in getting it closed and tilted down completely, then removed the fuse of it and put a silicone sealant between the roof and the glass. Now it's watertight and I use the airco (and the rear window) when things become hot.:D

Well when I had this problem with my electric suroof, I found that where a handle would have fitted (under the the interior light) there was a white plastic stud with a slot cut in it flush within the motorised unit. I tried turning it with a screwdriver to close the window, it wouldnt budge....then it gave way slightly and pushed in. Thinking I had broken the unit, I pressed the window button to try to get the plastic to drop back out....... hey presto the window closed!!! And opened!!! And tilted !!!

Mega chuffed :D

Greetings. Got a similar prob with my 2001 td4. Seems like the l/h mech is broken. Have been quoted £120 per side to replace the mech or there is a repair kit. Has anyone had any dealings with this kit as it is only £44 for both sides.

Thanks Andy

The best way if it's stuck is to put a screwdriver in the slot (pull the interior light panel off ,just held on with spring clips so comes off easily) and turn it as you press the button to work the sun roof.
