Hi,

After getting my car back from garage my 4.6 HSE feels like its on Sport Mode constantly. The mechanic said he tightened up the throttle but nothing else. Am i maybe just needing to get used the tightened up throttle, the mechanic said there was a lot of play in it, or is there something else wrong?

Usually when i accelerated without sport mode it would maybe drop a gear, thats if i booted it, but now it drops to the lowest possible gear.

there doesnt seem to be any difference i don't think.

The car just seems to be a rocket now in either sports mode or without. It was fun until i realised my mpg had reduced some what.

Sounds like he has adjusted the throttle cable but not adjusted the kickdown cable or vis versa. Sounds as if kickdown cable is too tight. That is not sport mode. Sports mode holds the gears longer before the box changes up.

From a standstill in normal mode i put the foot down and the revs went up to 5000rpm before changing. I would expect that in sport mode but not normal mode. Am i right in thinking this?

I mean i was flooring it but still would have thought the gear would have changed well before hitting 5000rpm.

over adjusted cable not good as the ecu will be looking for the slightest movement and drop shifting

Thought mine had died when it wouldn't change out of first....turned out that the kickdown imp poking cable had seized......bit of oil down the cable ....happy chappy.

Cheers, Nick.
