Hi all, I'm really struggling with removing the caliper bolts on my disco mk1. I tried with a 13mm bi hex but they're so worn, it just slipped. Tried with a 12mm bi hex hitting it on, but no joy. Also tried carefully heating the caliper, but still stuck fast. I'm really stumped, any sudgestions? Also I found these are they any cop? Cheers all.

It may come to welding a bolt onto the rounded head. Soak with lots of WD40 after.Try forcing a smaller socket onto the rounded head first though and crack the bar with a hammer as a sudden jolt, rather than a gentle increase in leverage.

nut extractrs dont work to well on bihex bolts ,1/2 inch bihex socket is best to use not 13mm,hit the head of bolt ,hammer 1/2 socket on try if not hit again and repeat

Ok, well i'm not sure there is room to weld a nut on top of the bolt, as the caliper is in the way. And I've tried whacking a smaller socket on. I might give a 1/2" a try though, as the 12mm didn't really get any grip. And the link wasn't working, but yes I might get a set of them at some point. Cheers all, and I'll report back if i get anywhere.

bolt head has to be hit hard repeatedly and socket hammered on often to ensure head doesnt mushroom too much

Ok well partial success. The half inch bi hex has undone the bottom bolt a treat and I will remember from now on to use the 1/2 inch not 13mm. But the top bolt is still slipping. Cant get any purchase on it. Been trying that one with a 12mm bi hex as I said with no joy. Is there a 15/32nds bi hex socket?:D

Ok, well I've dumped a ton of plusgas on, and I'll see what happens tomorrow. Hope that works. Really get fed up with stuck bolts, cos the previous 13 owners could blooming well do a bit of maintenance!

get rid of thoughs fecking bi sexual sockets and get some singles.as mentiond hit the bolt head hard with a hamber or lage puntch to send a shock down it. once you get a grip use a bit of heat:beer2:

Heat for 10 -20 seconds, let it cool for 30 or so then give it a decent spray with wd40 (or similar). Add a pair of Stillson's and repeat... :D

do you meen these? there a feckimg **** invenstion ,trust land rover to use them
