I'm saying that its always slow safe and not abused everything is rated very over the top. You don't tie a dead car to your truck and take off at 25mph likewise the
Winch is only 5 mph and relatively a steady pull even when recovering motors from Off the road the occasional hang ups but slow steady professional.

People try to use ropes at pay and
Play sites that do not understand
Even the simple effects of rope
Length angles weight on wheels etc

Linking shackels is a no no no one has mentioned linking shackles only linking strops/ropes

If you turn up and marshall any real event and link ropes with shackels you will be laughed at and told to feck orf never been told that or heard of that

The shackle isn't the weak point.so a shackle wont let go before the rope then?

and the rope reaches its limit and breaks the shackle is a huge mass heading towards one vehicle. but if your saying that you dont link ropes using a shackle then the shackle can only be at either vehicle and youve already said the shackle isnt the weak point so how will the shackle head towards the vehicle if the rope breaks?

Length angles weight on wheels etc doesnt that also apply to the motor there driving? people dont have a clue

the only time ive seen shackles being a problem is when they become unattached to someones home made welded recovery point

its all to do with risk assesment and commen sense which ever way you do it. if folk start dying its game over for pay & play

With my recovery gear it is all rated.

Every time I use it it is first checked. Inspected for damage. Then after use the same it also gets an entry in to the log book if I'm ever unsure or I recon it has done to much then it is not used for recovery again.

Yesterday at the nationals watching the team recovery, last years winners broke all thier rated ropes and had to be recovered by the marshalls getting max time penalty.

Several other teams also broke their ropes again at they are all rated ropes and most gave way at the loop. They all didn't half take some grief. The team from Anglian our club did one of the drivers did an endo in one of the holes and had to be recovered. Good day and the ropes took some grief.
