Heya lads. I'm in the middle of removing the rear floor of my landy as its badly corroded. I started by drilling out the rivets and tapping the heads off but then I got to ones where my drill can't get thought and I can't even top the head off them.

This is the top of one of these rivets of doom

And this is the bottom

It looks like its a bolt on the bottom my smallest spammer is too big for it.

Any tips on getting it off as all the remaining ones are like this.

Thanks

Chris

I used a grinder to remove some of the more stubborn ones on mine

you can either go for flap disc on the top side and wear it away or slitting disc on the bottom and chop off most of it before punching out the top

Although most just came out with a 5mm drill

yeah, the closer you can get to flush the better or if you want to be a bit less aggressive mole grips and crushing them also works

I've been experimenting on me series as there were a whole load of stuck ones

Is it just ahead of the back axle? That looks like a bolt that would have held a rear wing stay. It would have gone from the underside of the tub to the sill just in front of the back wheel. A lot of people's have rusted away completely, or folks have taken the stay off when fitting rock slider sills.

Took mine out last year, could get the grinder onto most of them, was a bit brutal but got them out in the end.

Replaced it with aluminium frame and ali floor, used spire clips and stainless countersunk bolts. End result is a removable floor in my td5 90 - I thanked the stars when I needed to access the sender tank a few months later, just unscrewed the floor, easy!

Chicken is optional.
