Hi all.

Just a quick question about the mating of the stub axle face and the swivel housing. It took an age to separate the gasket and sealant, on putting it back on after a swivel ball change there seems to be a bit of a gap (about 1mm) between them. Will this be taken up by the gasket and sealant or have I missed something? I had the half shaft out too as I took the whole lot off as a one lot.

I haven't done the shims yet, I was just doing a dry run.

Thanks as always.
Rob.

It seems to fit flusher the more I pull the top pin up. Would this have an effect? It only has 3 shims on at the mo until more parts arrive tomorrow.

I saw that already thanks. I seem to sort of have it, but I have question.

Once the stub axle is on and tightened the swivel housing is really, really tight to turn. Is this normal? I mean, before it was really really loose because the swivel bearings were shot and I don't know how it should feel all tightened up to torque spec. I haven't fitted the steering and track arms yet. Swivel ball was changed too.

I've still got the same problem. it must be something obvious. my type only has a little brass spacer on the shaft; it does not have a clip or anything.

AAArrrrggh!

Mine is of this type with a stub shaft and the CV is seperate

Okay, has some time today and did some measuring. Britpart ball seems ever so slightly shorter, but not enough. Hmm.

Wait a cotton pickn' moment!!!

Spot the difference...

Help. What do I do? I have a RRC without abs, so FRC7065 appeared to be the correct one, but it ain't.

Could it just be the fact its been machined wrong, was fitting a new swivel ball to a mates disco years ago and the bottom bearing just went straight through no stop it had been machined out.

My shafts have a brass rubbing collar that fits into the recessed bit you can see on the right. I'm wondering if I have to use an ABS swivel and use ABS top pin and bearing now. Maybe this is a fault or maybe they're no longer made this way. Anyway, it was a Britpart Genuine part, so I'm miffed and the supplier has not bothered to get back to me.
