Should I heavily grease a new stub axle on it's shaft before sliding on the hub assembly? I ask because that's what I did yesterday and with new bearings and seals in place in the hub, I found it really difficult to get it started on the shaft. When it did eventually go on it was fine but sliding it back off, the garter on the inside seal had come off and I wondered if that was down to hydraulic action of too much grease?
