Anyway your argument is invalid as making them wider does increase the height as well, as that bit is percentage wise. I am sure you knew that.
Perhaps somebody with some sort of experience can confirm or infirm that 225/70/16 would go silky smooth?

Oh I genuinely believed you were messing. Anyway we learn things every day like I learned that a tyre can make the car sound like it's breaking in half on low speeds.

Can’t see 7mm in height making much difference (15mm did increase) or for that matter the 5mm extra width (each side of tyre).
Check on full lock and see what gap you have around existing tyre.

225 should not be the issue, as the 17 wheels have that wideness. It's the "height" I am looking for.

Those will fit, but will be reasonably close to the spring cups. They will be about 28.4" in diameter.
My current setup is 235/55/18, which have a diameter of 28.2", but have a good 10mm between the spring cups and the tyres.

That means there will only be around 5mm for me between the tyre and spring cap. To be honest sounds scary and I should prob be safer with current 215/70/16 or 225/65/16 which will be a bit wider not looking like a toy car. That is of course if the rim wideness won't affect the "look".

This is the space I have with my 235/55/18 tyres.
Sorry about the strange camera angle, but it gives you an idea of what can be fitted, although I expect the offset is different on the 18" rims.

I will check current layout and determine, don't want it to look like it borrowed the tyres from another car either.

You can put a 5mm spacer shim on the hub, which will push the wheel out and away from the spring cup.

The 16" wheels will look fine with an extra 5mm of tyre each side.
