ps. what is the part number for the td5 glow plugs by NGK? tried to find but couldnt find the number. I might just as well pick up a set to have in case even if they would show ok. Can I test the resistance with the plugs still in vehice? grounding on the engine and connecting positive to the plug end?

the glow plugs are not there only for start-up, the glow plug's post-heat operation after the engine was started is exactly to override rough running untill the engine warms up a bit

unplug each plug and mesure resistance across the terminal end head, it should be very close to 0.8 Ohm or the plug is gone

, what he said!

made a massive difference to starting, which was my original problem.

My rough idling came later.

cool i'll give it a go in case it would wash away the last bit of uneven idle at cold. also i ran injector and fuel system cleaner and have been throwing in some red line diesel stuff since. It might also have done some good.

Try this, have been using for 12 years in all our vehicles (6) would not use anything else (recommended by a Diesel injector tech lab rat)

some examples:
VW caddy on 156K
TD5 Def on 131K (only one ever to give me problems )
Ford Galaxy 187K
Ford Ranger 144K
VW Passatt CC 135K

you pays yer money you takes yer choice.

Cue several opinions on the matter etc works for me nuff said!

PS its also like the Budgie .........cheap! and lasts for ages.
No idea what Finnish diesel is like, across Europe it varies wildly from chip fat to and oilve oil and thinners :p
