Greetings.
Having problem with my Freelander ( old style).
Whenever I went above 50mph the engine would start stuttering, Black smoke came from exhaust & a noise which sounded the same as when tappets in older cars started knocking.
Had to get a fuel injector fitted after one of the old ones failed but unfortunately the problem persists.
According to the garage there is no problem showing when the computer is connected to the vehicle memory.
Has anyone ever had this problem and if so how was problem solved.
Thanks in advance. Bob T.

Yup Bob. . . . .always check simple things first ,in your case ,air filter, fuel filter, low pressure fuel pump ,no air in low side [use halfrods destructions on the squeezie thing] split vacuum and turbo rubbers. . . .when yer happy with that then go to h/pressure side, unless your almost sure its a hp problem :)

Mine was a split intercooler hose. the elbow shaped one to the right top as you look back at the engine. It smoked like the proverbial battleship until i changed it.

Hi there,:)

And my Freelander is making a strange noise...............and it's not the easiest thing to try and describe on a website but here goes............

The sound seems to be coming from the nearside (passenger side) of the front of the car. I can only hear it when it's moving..........sort of sounds like the heater is on/or a dull grinding sound......................then as I slow down the nosie slows down and get quieter, then when I stop so does the noise.
It's almost like it's got something to do with the front wheel?
I have been underneath the front of it and I can't see anything a miss??
Anyone got any idea what I'm going on about??

Thanks,
Lach
