strange noise from c/locking 300 tdi

hi im new here, and of course looking for advice. Have a 96 300tdi es, when locking the doors a machine gun type noise can be heard within the rear tail gate. The doors seem to lock ok, is something about to break down? Also when you open the doors the passenger rear doesnt open as the knob doesnt seem to pop up far enough so i have to open the front door put my hand inside and pull the button up, then it works, any ideas on this aswell, many thanks bedlow

give em all a good shoosh of spray lub. it will probelly involve taking the door panels orf to get to them

My rear off side passenger door makes same noise, having been quoted sixty quid from a local specialist just for the bit, its a small plastic case with a rod for want of a better description sticking out of it, this hooks into the bottom part of the door lock (the bit you can see above trim)
I have sprayed mine with WD40 and it still makes noise but while it still works I am not going to worry about it
