In the last few days my Disco 2 auto has developed a slightly rough noise when at idle. Whilst I can't really hear it at speed, I'm pretty sure the car sounds more agricultural than usual on the road (could just be paranoid!). The idle noise seems loudest from the very front of the car. On looking under the car I see I have a weird build-up of emulsified oil under the gearbox on the cross member. I've just checked the gearbox oil and it started pouring out of the filler when I took it off so I guess it's got enough in it.
Can anyone suggest what might be going on, and can anyone also tell me what the round plate is where the oil appears to be coming from?
