lokos like a late "300" type, in which case it could be a '99. '99 is about
when they changed to the SII.

Mind, the 4.0 engine makes it a "thor", id it is indeed that and not just a
badging exercise.

"Calvin" says:

SAL Manufacturer code: Land Rover
J Model: NAS Discovery, 200/300 Series
Y Model specification: 49 state emissions, 100in
1 Body type: 5-door, closed (station wagon, hard top)
2 Engine type: 3.9 litre V8 petrol, or 4.0 litre V8 petrol (OBD II)
4 Steering, transmission, GVW: Left-hand drive (LHD), 4-speed
automatic, 6000lb
2 Checksum code: checks out ok
X Model year: 1999
A Assembly location: Solihull, UK
562336 Serial number

so I guess it's legit.

I wouldn't say you were an idiot, it would have struck me as odd too.
It looks like the last of the old bunch. However, there are a few
300Tdis on the road with T or even V/W plates - these will be vehicles
which spent an extra year somewhere in a field in Solihull, or elsewhere
in the system, before somebody remembered to register and sell them.

I saw a W plated 300Tdi in Surrey a few months back. It did make me
double-take. I think this makes me very sad.
