Strange diff lock issue

Hi all. Got stuck coming up a steep incline yesterday. Had diff lock on however the wheels off the ground were spinning so rolled back down and jacked her up to check. Could move the wheel but only 6th of a turn either way. Went back up and wheels in air spinning again.

Any suggestions? Could it have bounced out of diff lock? Stick looked ok. This was both front and back wheels.
 
I think ARB air lockers, or detroit lockers are most popular. I used ARB in Australia a few times.

Air lockers you can turn on and off but you need an air compressor... Detroit lockers are constantly on (I think?) so that has its own disadvantages
 
I've just fit a pair of Detroit diffs a locker in the rear and a trutrac in the front, I would recommend you try driving a Landy with detroit as it alters the drive it now is always trying to drive in a straight line and when you turn the wheel is pulling back, mine isn't noisy tho not like I ad read but I'll give it time and as it wears I think it will,
 
Hang on !! If yeh front wheels are lifting and yeh back wheels are not pushing you got a problem. Best way to test your central difflock is to stick a gut trolley jack under your front diff to lift both front wheels off the ground and block your difflock on the transfer box,first gear, and lift up clutch slowly !! If it dunt go forward you have a problem with your diff lock !

Yeas but a standard diff lock locks the Center diff not the front and rear, the front and rear are open diffs so one wheel on the front can spin out and one on the back can also spin out therefor loosing dive, same principle as getting cross axled,

Power is split dpfront to back 50/50 with Center iff locked but the open diffs will always send power to the easiest wheel to turn so 100% of the power to the rear (the 50% that's sent to te rear with the Center duff lock) to the wheel off the floor,
 
take off rear propshaft put into low box difflock in ( lever to the left and down) try driving forward if vehicle moves difflock is ok if no drive then you may have damaged a crosspin in the transsfer box differential !! its not too bad to fix but does require removal of transfer box , other things that could be at fault are linkages to difflock etc ...
